Data Security Council of India and Google joins hands to create awareness about cybersecurity
India: Data Security Council of India (DSCI)
and Google had come together to educate MSMEs about cybersecurity and about
safety measures while operating online.
The
two organizations have jointly launched the program named ‘Internet Safety
Program’. The program will focus on conducting several workshops on cybersecurity,
legal and regulatory obligations, best practices in cybersecurity, techniques
to deal with cybercrime, and so on. These workshop are planned to held across
various cities.
As
Google is planning to on-board more than 20 million SMEs online, creating
awareness about cybersecurity among MSMEs is organization’s prime concern.
India
consists of more than 51 million MSMEs and approximately 5% are currently
operating online and the number is expected to increase in the coming future.
Making MSMEs aware about the cyber threats, identity theft, hacking, online
frauds, etc. is essential for the digital growth of the MSME sector.
TechSci
Research depicts that the joint efforts of the two organizations is expected to
decline the cybercrime faced by the micro-small and medium businesses.
Cybersecurity
has become the major concern globally. According to the recently publish report
by TechSci Research, “Global Cyber Security Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, the global
cyber security market is projected to surpass USD123 billion by 2020. Growing
inclination towards cloud storage, introduction of public clouds and growing
emphasis on digitization are propelling the need for cyber security across the
globe. North America and Europe have been the leading revenue contributors,
capturing major shares in the market in 2014. Moreover, Asia-Pacific is rapidly
emerging as a potential market for cyber security solution providers, driven by
emerging economies such as China, India and South-East Asian countries,
wherein, rising cyber espionage by foreign countries is inducing the need for
safeguarding cyber space.
