Gujarat Government Allocates USD268.80 million For the Development Of Road Infrastructure

The Gujarat government has allocated USD268.80 million for the construction of 94 roads totaling 919 km, from small villages to major cities, in an effort to keep up with the state's rapid infrastructural development. The government approved 94 projects, including the construction of four lanes, roads that are 10 meters wide, bridges, and bypasses on the state highways that connect ports, industrial hubs, metropolises, and tourist attractions.

Moreover, projects worth USD56.7 million have been sanctioned for widening 289.32 km of 37 roads traversing through 17 districts to 10 meters, in line with the Parikrama Path Yojana that was announced in the budget for FY2023–2024.

The circular path system shall be implemented by the road and buildings department in the districts of Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Mahisagar, Anand, Narmada, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, and Devbhumi Dwarka.

In addition to that, the Gujarat Government approved USD30.00 million for the widening and improvement of eight roads totaling 117.71 kilometers in length that connect major towns including Gandhinagar, Rajkot, and Surat. The construction of ten highways totaling 177.5 kilometers in length, each 10 meters wide, and connecting Mundra, the Dahej Port, and industrial areas like Savli and Jhagadia among others is expected to cost USD17.8 million.

As part of the Parikrama Path Yojana, the government additionally approved USD54.10 million for the four-laning of three highways spanning 71.73 km and running through the Surendranagar, Amreli, and Kheda districts. Moreover, the government approved USD5.65 million for the building of a flyover, VUP, and pool to transform the six-lane Mehsana-Palanpur route into a high-speed corridor.

A total of USD19.20 million was allotted, of which USD13.60 million has been approved for land acquisition/construction for bypass road works in major cities in the state, including Vapi, Valsad, Radhanpur, Amreli, Lunawada, Santrampur, and Luni, as well as for high level pool replacement, pool strengthening, and road widening. 

This large-scale road construction project demonstrates the government's dedication to enhancing infrastructure and promoting economic growth throughout the state. Gujarat is positioned to become a powerhouse of development because of improved road networks and connectivity.
