New
Delhi: The
national capital region is battling a pollution crisis because of smog and to a
high degree of poor air quality for more than week now and one of the
significant reasons for this is boundless burning of rice stubbles by farmers
in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh to rapidly prepare their fields for sowing
wheat.
Huge number of farmers in
Punjab and Haryana are burning the farm stubble which is causing air pollution.
To control increasing air pollution in Delhi/NCR, the Centre has asked NTPC to
secure farm stubble and use in its fuel mix.
NTPC is now ready to issue
tenders in the coming days to buy farm stubble at Rs. 5500 per ton from
farmers. The state-run power maker will utilize 10% of straw pellets in their
fuel blend. A new market will be created under which service providers will bid
after deciding with farmers. This will also create a market for framers and
they can easily earn Rs 11,000 per acre from the sale of stubble to NTPC.
Farmers, on an average gets around 2 tons of stubble in an acre. The use of
farm stubble would not effect in the tariff escalation for the power generator.
In addition to this Power Secretary A. K. Bhalla, told that the stubble pellets
procured for power plant will not be used for this season, but the system will
be in place.
TechSci Research also depicts
that the increasing air pollution due to burning of farm stubbles coupled with
growing awareness about the harmful effects of indoor air pollution in the
metro cities is going to upsurge the demand for air purifiers nationwide. With
the doctors proscribing the citizens to indulge in outdoor activities, the
sales of air purifiers are expected to catch pace, thereby driving the India
Air Purifiers Market.
According to the recently
published report by TechSci Research, “India
Air Purifiers Market, By Filter Type, By End User
Sector, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2011-2021”, the market for air purifiers
in India is projected to reach US $ 209 million by 2021. Residential as well as
commercial sectors are expected to generate high demand for air purifiers in
India during the forecast period, due to rising disposable income levels of
consumers and increasing awareness among people about benefits of using air
purifiers. HEPA combined with Activated Carbon-based air purifiers dominated
air purifiers market in India because their high efficiency in removing
particulate matter, odor and other harmful gases. Adoption of HEPA based air
purifiers in the country is growing considerably in households, embassies,
healthcare institutes, and other commercial spaces, and this trend is expected
to continue over the next five years.
TechSci Research also depicts
that Transformers play a vital role in power transmission and distribution
network. With power being one of the most crucial factors for any country’s
economic development, and India having emerged as the world’s third largest
producer of electricity, after the US and China, demand for both power and
distribution transformers continues to grow in the country. In 2016, India’s
total installed capacity of power was 310 GW, and this figure is expected to
further increase over the next five years. Increasing number of government
policies to promote rural electrification such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram
Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), Saubhagya for monitoring household electrification
progress, national grid, coal linkages and push for renewable energy are
further driving power & distribution transformers demand in India. Rising
technological advancements in transmission and distribution networks and
increasing imports of transformers from China are among the emerging trends
that are expected to gain more traction over the next five years.
According to the recently
published report by TechSci Research, “India
Power & Distribution Transformers Market,
By Transformer Type, By Power Output, Competition Forecast & Opportunities,
2012-2022”, power
& distribution transformers market in India is projected to surpass $ 3
billion by 2022. Distribution transformers dominated India power &
distribution transformers market over the past few years, and this trend is
anticipated to continue in the coming years, as well. Growing demand for
distribution transformers in India can be attributed to increasing focus of
Government of India to provide access to electricity to all rural households of
the country. Furthermore, the west region garnered the largest share in the
country’s power & distribution market in 2016, and the region is
anticipated to continue its dominance through 2022, owing to rising number of
power projects being undertaken coupled with increasing urbanization and
industrialization in the region.
