Starbucks Introduces Mobile Application
for a New Payment Option
India: With an aim to improve and fast track
payments in its outlets, a beverage chain, Tata Starbucks has launched multiple
payment options for customers through its mobile payment application. The
application will help customers to pay for in-store purchases in fast and
easier way which will help the company in increasing its customer base through
the loyalty program using their mobile application.
The payment options which the app
provides includes Scan to Pay, which is for customers looking for a fast and
convenient way to pay. The customers can scan the barcode linked to a
registered Starbucks Card on the mobile app or shake their mobile device with
the ‘Shake to Pay’ feature to activate the pay screen.
The customers can also pay using the
virtual Starbucks Card which can be generated and reloaded directly from their
mobile devices. An option of automatic reloads is also available. The mobile
app offers card registration feature, enables balance transfer from one card to
another and allows transaction history to be viewed.
TechSci Research depicts that the
move of the company for providing multiple payment option will help it to become
the first major retailer in India to offer customer with convenient and fast
payment option through their loyalty program and further improve and expand
robust global digital ecosystem. The mobile application will also help the
company meet the customer need in the country after demonetization. This payment
option app provides bar code scan with which the customers can link to a
registered Starbucks reward program that will enable various benefits for the loyal
customers.
