Flipkart Launches its Branded Fashion Category

Flipkart launches branded range of outfits to capture larger market share

India: India E-commerce website, flipkart has launched its core fashion category by including a wider range of outfits, specially curated by fashion consultants, in order to differentiate the shopping experience of its customers and maintain leadership over other e-commerce rivals.

The company has put in place a team of 100 style consultants, who will help curate outfits based on searches made by customers. The company also plans to tie up with brands, celebrities, TV channels to maintain its portfolio in accordance with the latest trends and fashion products popular in the market. The move is also in line with Flipkart’s core strategy of focusing more on increasing its fashion products listings by sellers on its websites, particularly from the smaller long-tail merchants.

According to TechSci Research, the access to luxury brands is scarce in India due to the limited availability of premium retail real-estate. The launch of luxury brands by flipkart would benefit the consumers by helping them provide a curated assortment of the best luxury brands with the most authentic brand experience. This would improve the shopping experience of consumers and consequent increase the company’s presence and market share in India’s online fashion category.

According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “India E-commerce Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s e-commerce market is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 36% during 2015-2020.
