Nestle Launched Protein Shots

On 18th December 2024, Nestle introduced
protein shots in the United States that it claims help reduce hunger in those
trying to lose weight. Boost Pre-Meal Hunger Support is a shake designed for
patients on GLP-1 prescriptions or other weight-loss treatments. It should be
taken up to 30 minutes before a meal. The shots are fat-free, include 45
calories, 1 gram of sugar, 10 grams of whey protein, and cost USD 10.99 for a
box of four on Amazon.com and at certain CVS stores. They promote a
"NATURAL GLP-1 response to a meal.
The manufacturer of Nesquik shakes and
Kit Kat chocolate bars claims that their drink causes a natural bodily reaction
that is comparable to but much weaker than that of popular weight-loss
medications like Novo Nordisk's, opens new tab Wegovy, and Eli Lilly's (LLY.N),
opens new tab Zepbound.
According to Nestle, the product is made
up of a variety of rapidly digested peptides that provide the user with an
amino acid rush that regulates appetite. Because whey protein microgels slow
down digestion, they have a longer-lasting effect on intestinal receptors that
release the GLP-1 hormone. In addition, 26 individuals with type-2 diabetes
took part in randomized research in 2021. They were given a low-dose whey
protein microgel or a water placebo, and then they were given a meal that was
intended to cause a sufficient rise in blood sugar. Participants who had been
taking the whey protein were given the placebo one week into the research,
while those who had been taking the whey protein were given the placebo.
The whey-protein
group's glucose levels were 22% lower than those of the placebo group in the
two hours following the meal, according to the study. The hormone GLP-1 was
positively impacted as well. In the United States, Nestle began marketing a new
USD 5 line of frozen pizzas and protein-enriched pastas earlier this year that
are intended for those using weight-loss medications. Shares of businesses like
Nestle were sold down when the U.S. well-known retail brand Walmart (WMT.N)
revealed in a recent presentation that it observed a minor decline in food
consumption when customers took the drug.
