Provivi and Godrej Agrovet have teamed
up to offer eco-friendly pest control solutions for Indian rice and corn
farmers, focusing on Yellow Stem Borer and Fall Armyworm to boost crop
productivity sustainably.
Bengaluru:
Provivi, a global pioneer in pheromone-based
crop protection, has announced a strategic partnership with Godrej Agrovet
Limited (GAVL), a prominent Indian food and agri-business conglomerate. This
collaboration aims to introduce innovative and sustainable pest control
solutions tailored to support India’s rice and corn farmers.
As part of the agreement, GAVL will
launch Provivi’s YSB Eco-Dispenser, designed to combat the Yellow Stem Borer
(YSB) in rice, and will hold exclusive rights to commercialize the FAW
Eco-Dispenser, targeting Fall Armyworm (FAW) in corn across India. These
cutting-edge, pheromone-based technologies offer Indian farmers an
environmentally friendly approach to managing pests, enhancing both crop
productivity and ecological balance.
Speaking about the collaboration, Balram
Singh Yadav, Managing Director of GAVL, emphasized the critical need for
sustainable farming solutions amid rising pest challenges caused by climate
change. “With changing climatic conditions leading to increased pest
challenges, it’s more important than ever to empower Indian farmers with
innovative, sustainable technologies that enhance productivity. As a Research
& Development-driven agri-conglomerate, we are dedicated to delivering
solutions that support and uplift farming families. Our partnership with
Provivi reflects our commitment to providing timely, effective
support—combining their expertise with our extensive distribution network to
make a real difference for farmers.” he said.
Rice and corn
are cornerstone crops for India, contributing significantly to the nation's
food security and economic growth. India, a global rice exporter and a leading
corn producer for industries such as food processing and animal feed, stands to
benefit immensely from eco-friendly pest control innovations.
Highlighting
the stakes, Rajavelu NK, CEO of Crop Protection Business at GAVL, added,
“Yellow Stem Borer and Fall Armyworm continue to pose significant threats to
rice and corn crops, driving up production costs for farmers. With the need for
sustainable solutions in today’s changing agricultural landscape, we’re excited
to partner with Provivi to empower farmers with innovative, eco-friendly tools
to manage these two major pests. Our joint efforts in Integrated Pest
Management aim to provide effective, environmentally conscious sustainable
solutions to protect rice and corn cultivation.”
Provivi’s YSB
and FAW Eco-Dispensers, crafted from biodegradable materials, provide
long-lasting efficacy while minimizing environmental impact. The products are
slated for availability to Indian farmers by 2029.
Corey Huck, CEO of Provivi, expressed optimism
about the partnership, stating, “This partnership allows Provivi to expand
our impact in one of the world’s fastest-growing agricultural markets. Our goal
is to work with trusted partners like Godrej Agrovet to provide farmers with
safer, science-based pest control solutions that support both productivity and
environmental sustainability.”
According to TechSci Research, the strategic partnership between
Provivi and Godrej Agrovet presents a significant opportunity for India’s
agriculture sector, particularly in rice and corn cultivation. By introducing
pheromone-based pest control solutions, such as the YSB Eco-Dispenser for
Yellow Stem Borer and the FAW Eco-Dispenser for Fall Armyworm, this
collaboration provides farmers with sustainable, eco-friendly tools to address
prevalent pest issues. This shift towards innovative, environmentally conscious
pest management aligns with the growing demand for sustainable farming
practices in India, a major player in global rice and corn production. From a
market perspective, the adoption of such technologies could reduce the
environmental footprint of crop protection, lower production costs, and improve
overall crop yields. The partnership also positions Provivi and Godrej Agrovet
to capitalize on the rising need for integrated pest management solutions in
India’s rapidly evolving agricultural landscape, benefiting both the farming
community and the broader agri-business industry.
