BASF Opens Ucrete Manufacturing Facility
Malaysia: BASF SE, a Germany based
chemicals giant, inaugurates production facilities for Ucrete flooring
solutions at the existing construction chemicals manufacturing facility located
in Selangor, Malaysia. The company aims to address the growing demand for
durable and high quality flooring chemicals for the expanding industrial sector
of the region. The production facility, which is capable of manufacturing all
the components of Ucrete polyurethane concrete flooring system, is
the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific region. The company already has a similar
facility operational in the UK. The new production facility, which is situated
at Bukit Raja Industrial Park, Malaysia, would benefit from proven
technological competency and global experience of the company.
TechSci Research depicts that the Ucrete production facility in Malaysia
would cater to the growing demand from pharmaceutical, food, beverage and
chemical industries as well as demanding requirement for non-tainting
applications. Inauguration of the new flooring solutions facility would aid
BASF to address the rising demand for construction chemicals in the
region.
According to TechSci Research report, “GCC
Construction Chemicals Market By Type,
By End User, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2011 – 2021”, construction
chemicals market in the GCC region is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 7%
during 2016 to 2021. Concrete admixtures and
waterproofing chemicals are the most widely consumed construction chemicals in
the region, due to growing use of these chemicals in residential and commercial
structures. Demand for protective coatings as well as adhesives and sealants is
also growing in the region. Other major construction chemicals consumed in the
GCC countries include flooring chemicals, grouts, mortars, anti-corrosive
agents, etc.
