Security is the key concern in multi-stakeholder , says India Communications and Information Technology minister
India: Ravi Shankar Prasad,
minister of Communication and Information Technology, India stated that
multi-stakeholder model for internet governance the Internet Corporation
Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is important to bring the positive
development, however, the model take into consideration of IT security issues.
This new internet governance model was
devised by studying various global multi-stakeholder models and through the global
consultation process.
The new model was to be finalized on
September 30, 2015; however, due to the delay responses from the concern groups
it could not be closed within time. Hence, the process is expected to close by
this year, September.
According to the proposed model by
India, internet should be managed through multi-stakeholders but the government
should have the supreme right and control on the key concerns regarding
international security.
The Internet governance committee was
established and it is planning to collaborate with the United States on this
matter.

always a key concern for Governments across the world. As Internet is getting
crucial every day, the responsibility of the Government to have control over
the matter is becoming crucial. Towards the same, India is taking a step ahead
and working on finalizing the multi-stakeholder model for governance of
internet.
