AgroSciences research and development agreement with Radiant Genomics for crop
protection products

AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Chemicals Company has expanded its
R&D collaboration with a major US based biotechnology company, that is
Radiant Genomics so as to find new natural products for use in crop protection.
The collaboration between new natural products department of AgroSciences and
metagenomics and engineering biology technologies department of Radiant
Genomics would utilize nature inspired chemistries to develop new products. As
per the partnership agreement between the two companies, the technology base of
Radiant Genomics would be expanded in order to increase the natural products
for innovation research in protection of crops. Previously, Dow AgroSciences
entered into an agreement with another US based agricultural products company,
that is Arcadia Biosciences for the development and commercialization of trait stacks
in corn.

Research depicts that the collaboration of Dow AgroSciences with Radiant
Genomics would enable Dow to address the increasing demand for crop protection
across the globe. Crop protection has garnered massive popularity across the
globe on account of growing requirement to maximize the available arable land
and increasing demand to ensure food security.
According to TechSci Research report “Iran Fertilizers Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”,
the fertilizer market in Iran is projected to grow at a
CAGR of over 3.5% during 2015 – 2020. Use of fertilizers in Iran is a
necessity, as the soil in the country is not suitable for cultivation. In
addition, with low precipitation levels, use of fertilizers is a prerequisite
for boosting the country’s agricultural output.
