Danish Robot manufacturer eyes on Indian market
India: Universal Robots, a Denmark robot
manufacturer has launched its new industrial robots and targeting manufacturing
industry various segments – Auto, FMCG, personal care product manufacturers,
and so on; majorly to provide end line packaging facility through robots.
Apart from these sectors, the company is
eyeing to sell its robots to the universities for curriculum purpose.
The new industrial robot is priced INR
16 lakhs for the Indian customers.
This robot works in collaboration with
humans and can be reprogrammed according to the task to be performed. Universal
Robots have UR3, UR5, UR10 robotic arms, named according to the payloads in
kilograms.
Overall, the company has sold over 7,000
robots globally, out of which 200 were sold in India. It is reported that in
Indian market the company has sold 150 robots (out of these 200) last year
itself.
The company strategy is to grow its
channel partner strength across the country to register more sale and increase
the foothold in the Indian market.
TechSci Research depicts that Indian
manufacturing sector provides the untapped opportunity for the industrial robot
providers as industrial automation is growing with the substantial rate in the
country. The new product launch by Universal Robot will provide the efficient
solution for manufacturer’s end line packing activities to increase the
productivity & minimize the cost. As well, the government ‘Make in India’ initiative
to boost manufacturing sector in the country will provide the new potential
prospects for Universal Robots.
According to a recent report by TechSci Research, “Global Industrial Robotics Market Forecast and Opportunities,
2020”, the global market for industrial robotics is forecast to generate
revenues of over USD46 billion by 2020. Asia is the largest market for
industrial robotics with a majority market share in both value and volume
terms. With the aim of increasing their returns, manufacturers are gradually
shifting their production bases to Asian countries. Demand for industrial
robots from emerging countries such as India, Thailand and Taiwan has been
escalating. Asia is expected to maintain its dominance in the market through
2020.
