Oracle plans to invest $400 Million for its India Operations
Oracle to set up campus in
Bangalore, the largest center outside the US
India: Oracle corporation Chief Safra Catz is
on her maiden trip to India. She met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and
reveals the plan to set up a campus in Bangalore by investing $400 Million. The
campus would work as the incubation center for startups and a comprehensive
training center for technology talent in the country.
The
company has planned to start the construction of the campus in March which will
have the capacity of 11,000 employees.
The
Oracle Chief stated that the company has closely studied the Government of
India key projects such as Digital India, Smart cities, Start-up India, Make in
India and so on. The chief said that all of these projects can gain benefits by
using cloud computing services.
Safra
Catz discusses with the Prime Minister that all these projects are dependent on
new cloud technologies which will mitigate the use of traditional technologies.
As well, the deployment of cloud computing services will bring accountability,
transparency, and efficiency in the governance.
The
company also announced an expansion of its training program which runs by
Oracle Academy. The academy has currently partnered with close to 1,700
educational institutes to teach and train students in computer science; it will
reach out to 1,000 more educational institutes to provide training to more than
50,000 students per year.
Oracle
Academy trains more than 2.6 million students in 106 countries worldwide.
Oracle’s
India offices have the second largest employee base outside the US, with
currently close to 40,000 employees and an additional over 2,000 job opening
across multiple functions.

Research depicts, Oracle focus on India to set up the campus to train and
incubate the young talent will help in flourishing the start-up ecosystem in
India. As well, the company is focusing on offering the cloud services to the
government, which will have the positive impact on the cloud computing market
in India.
