Indulekha Gets the New Owner
India: Unilever has always been very keen on
making acquisitions globally in the natural products segment and the company
has achieved a breakthrough in India as well. Moson’s group personal care brand
Indulekha has got the new owner -Hindustan Unilever and will flourish under
this new umbrella.
Mosons Group is taking a new start and
this will be a dawn of new brand “Indian Woman”. The company aims to launch its
first product segments by April this year and it will be manufactured across
1000 village panchayats of Kerala. The initiative is announced to be 100%
non-profit, this announcement has the potential to add plenty of value to
Mosons Group’s initiative.
Indian woman’s products portfolio will
include food products, cleaning products and other household items such as
mixer grinder and egg beaters. The group is under obligation to not to launch
any personal care brands for 5 years and the group will also enter this segment
once the non-compete clause expires. Indian Woman would set up one small
manufacturing in each of the 1000 village panchayats, employing local women
workforce and promoting entrepreneurship the same time.
According to TechSci Research, Personal
care market in India is expected to grow in the next few years and companies focusing
on this segment. Hindustan Unilever Ltd has been trying to widen its Premium
Naturals Segment and company’s acquisition of Indulekha and Vayodha will
strengthen the existing product portfolio. Indulekha has strong brand image
regionally and HUL would want to market this across the country and abroad.
Furthermore, existing
HUL segment is seeing a declining trend and the market potential is huge so
company wants the most out of this market with this acquisition
