BAGRRY’S, oldest cereal maker to enter into quick service retail
INDIA: Country’s oldest Bagrry’s India Ltd which is into
cereal maker from past 2 decades, is finally entering into food retailers
segments which can provide quick service in their restaurants offering
healthier food options. Hence therefore rising competition levels for food
chains like KFC and McDonald’s.
The name through which
these stores will be known ‘Baggry’s On the Go’, will serve oats-based burgers
and bagels, sandwiches, muesli and wheat bran-based desserts and meals which
comprises of multigrain will be served as a dinner
Aditya Bagri, son of
Shyam Bagri who is currently heading the INR 77 crore retails business, one of
the biggest suppliers of wheat for the leading market player Nestle.
According to Techsci Research: The company’s focus on healthy foods and
beverages with their own ingredients is a good move as India’s quick service
market is expected to grow to USD 4.6 million by 2020 and it will also them to
overshadow the existing players such as KFC and McDonald’. The Business Segment
identified by Bagrry, which has been in the cereal market for more than two
decades, could help them to raise funds from the market easily and quickly.
According
to a recent report published by TechSci Research “India Food Services
Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020” the market for food services in India is expected
to grow at a CAGR of over 12% through 2020. expansion of brands into tier II
and tier III cities, is also a major factor which is expected to drive growth
in food services market of the country over the next five years.
Company’s
plan to open Quick Service Retail (QSR) will also allow for faster
profitability as these stores requires less space and which in turn will reduce
company’s expenditure. Also, the consumer’s trend toward the QSR concept will
accelerate the company’s plan to open new stores.
