Reliance Communications and Reliance Jio entered into 4G spectrum sharing agreement
India: Reliance Jio, a Mukesh
Ambani-led telecom company entered into the strategic partnership with Reliance
Communications. The aim of the partnership is to provide high-speed telecom
services in the country.
The partnership agreement
focuses on change in spectrum allotment from Reliance Communications to
Reliance Jio in 800 MHz band across nine cities. In addition, the agreement
also covers sharing of spectrum across seventeen cities in 800 MHz band.
The two companies also intend
to enter into reciprocal Intra Circle Roaming arrangements, stated the company
officials.
The strategic partnership
will support Reliance Jio LTE services rollout, providing greater network
coverage and excellent service quality.
According to TechSci Research, this partnership
between the two companies will result in collaboration of their network
synergies and increase the network capacity. On the other hand, the two
companies will able to save considerably on network operating cost.
Further, the Reliance
Communication customers will get benefitted from the access of Reliance Jio 4G
LTE network under the ‘reciprocal sharing’ and ‘Intra Circle Roaming’ strategic
agreement. However, these agreements are subject to the approvals and
liberalization of Reliance Communications’ 800 Hz band spectrum.
Further, ‘Indefeasible Right
of Use’ for inter-and-intra city optical fiber networks across the country, and
sharing of telecom tower infrastructure agreements.
TechSci Research recently
published a report, “India
Optical Fiber Cables Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020” which depicts that the existing
network of copper cables is being overhauled by using advanced fiber optic
technology. Also, to address the soaring demand for high-speed data
transmission, the government of India along with telecom giants is investing
substantial capital in upgrading the country’s telecom infrastructure.
