Indian Government Establishes National Board for Electric Mobility
The setting up of National
Board for Electric Mobility board will boost the global electric vehicle
infrastructure market
India: The Government of India have set up the
national board of electric mobility (NBEM) in a bid to promote the electric
mobility along with encouraging manufacturing of electric and hybrid vehicles
in the country.
The
NBEM will understand, propose implement the short-term and long-term
development plan for National Electric Mobility Mission. The board would have
its objectives, quantifiable outcomes and defined roles & responsibilities
of stakeholders. The organization will explore and recommend collaborations and
tie-ups for technology acquisitions, acquiring technical talent and explore
agreements opportunity with leading R&D centers to ensure availability of
technology to the Indian industry.
Techsci
research depicts that setting up of National Board for Electric Mobility would
encourage the production as well as adoption of electric vehicles in the
country. India is one of the largest automotive markets across the world.
However, the penetration of electric vehicle in the country is very low. The
Board would facilitate the development of electric vehicle industry. The rising
sales of electric vehicles would also help in the development of electric
vehicle infrastructure in the region.
According
to released report of TechSci Research, “Global
Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Market By Type, By Installed
Location, By Region, Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 - 2021”, the global market for electric vehicle
infrastructure is forecast to grow at a CAGR of over 27% during 2016-2021, on
account of favorable government policies that promote adoption of electric
vehicles and growing concerns over harmful effects of air pollution. Additionally,
grid integration of electric vehicles is projected to offer huge impetus to
global electric vehicle infrastructure market in the coming years.
