Lenzing Group Plans Capacity Expansion at Austria Plant
Lenxzing
to invest USD75.68 million for premium special fibers capacity expansion at its
plant located in Burgenland in Austria
Austria: Lenzing Group, a world
leader in manufacturing and supply of cellulose fiber, has planned capacity
expansion for premium special fibers at its Heiligenkreuz site in Burgenland.
The company has already commenced 25,000 tons per annum capacity expansion for
special fiber TENCEL® through investment of USD75.68 million over the coming 12
months. The TENCEL® fibers range produced by the company includes Refibra™ fibers,
that incorporates blank wastes from production of cotton and wood as a raw
material. The company has been involved in the production of fibers since past
20 years at its Heiligenkreuz site. The fibers produced through this expansion
project would be made available to customers by the third quarter of 2018.
Techsci Research depicts that
the investment in expansion of fibers is expected to strengthen the presence of
Lenzing Group in the European region. Since India is a major importer of
specialty fibers from European region, the capacity expansion of Lenzing Group
would also cater to the demand from the non-woven industry in India geotextiles
market.
According to the recently
published report by TechSci Research, “India
Geotextiles Market, By Type (Non-Woven, Woven
& Knitted), By Material (Polypropylene, Polyester & Others), By
Application (Erosion Control, Road, Drainage & Others), Competition Forecast
& Opportunities, 2012 – 2026”, the geotextiles market in India is anticipated to grow at
a CAGR of around 12% during 2017 – 2026. India geotextiles market has been
broadly segmented into three categories, namely, woven, non-woven and knitted. Among
these categories, non-woven geotextile segment occupied the largest share in
India geotextiles market in 2016. The segment is anticipated to maintain its
dominance during the forecast period as well. Non-woven geotextiles are used to
prevent soil erosion, pound underlayment and separation fabrics, as they act as
an excellent filtrate, and are resistant to heat. Region-wise, west region is
the largest demand generating region for geotextiles in the country.
