CB&I and Clariant Secure Propane Dehydrogenation Unit Deal in China
CB&I
and Clariant have been awarded the contract by Dongguan Grand Resource Science
and Technology, to establish a propane dehydrogenation unit in China.
CHINA: Dongguan Grand Resource
Science and Technology has awarded Clariant and CB&I a contract to
establish a propane dehydrogenation unit which would be constructed in Dongguan
city of Guangdong Province in China. The Dongguan plant would utilize the
Catofin® catalytic dehydrogenation technology developed by CB&I, and heat
generating material (HGM) and Catofin catalyst developed by Clariant. The heat
generating material and Catofin catalyst would provide significant commercial
opportunities and lower the emissions. Additionally, the use of HGM would
accelerate the selectivity and yield of Catofin during the process.
TechSci Research depicts that
the collaboration between Clariant
and CB&I to set up a propane dehydrogenation unit in China would provide
flexibility in production and ensure regular supply of propane to the
customers. Additionally, increasing production of propane would provide steady
raw materials to the propylene industry.
According to the recently
published report by TechSci Research, “Global
Propylene Market By Application, By Region,
Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 – 2025”, the global propylene market
is forecast to grow at a CAGR around 6% during 2016-2025, on account of growing
industrialization and rising demand for demand for eco-friendly paints across
commercial and residential set ups. Additionally, announcements of various
emerging OPT plants for propylene coupled with smooth trading practices between
countries is boosting global propylene market. Furthermore, polypropylene is
projected to dominate global propylene market, on account of increasing
government regulations for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in environment
supported by tremendous growth in the production of light commercial vehicles
and packaging industries.
