India’s Milk Output Crosses 100 Million Tonnes
India: The average milk yield per day has
marginally improved for indigenous category of cows and buffaloes when compared
with last monsoon season. In
terms of milk production, northern states stood first in India. Around 23 MMT
of milk is produced in Uttar Pradesh, which is over 17% of total country’s
production. Bhadawari, an improved buffalo breed, are mainly from Agra and
Etawah districts of Uttar Pradesh which are known for its high lactation period
of 270-275 days in a year.
According
to TechSci Research, improved milk yields of cows and buffaloes in the country
has been a major factor in driving the production capacity across the country. Also,
significant improvement in supply chain and increasing presence of big
companies has helped in boosting the country’s milk output this year.
According
