Digicel Unveils its High-Speed Long Term Evolution (LTE) Network
Jamaica: Jamaica based mobile phone network
provider, Digicel completed the first phase of its LTE infrastructure related
investment by launching BVI’s ‘lighting-fast’ LTE network. This investment will
help the company in expanding its network with the development of 14 new sites.
With the introduction of this network,
the company aims at providing the customers residing in parts of Tortola and
Virgin Gorda with the LTE network with an average speed up to 10 times greater
than that of 4G networks. The activation of this network intends at arming BVI
with state-of-the-art, topnotch communications, and entertainment infrastructure
& service.

Gordon, while stated- “BVI has been anticipating the launch of Digicel 4G LTE,
and we are pleased to present this ‘game changer.’ We’re focused on always
delivering the most advanced technologies to our customers, and the activation
of the LTE network in BVI is another significant step in this direction.”
The company claims to provide the
fastest network to the customers and will also offer a seven-day money back
guarantee to any customer who is not satisfied with these LTE services.
TechSci Research depicts that with
introduction of high-speed LTE at minimal charges in the market, the overall
user experience would enhance several folds. Digicel’s LTE roll-out offering
lightning-fast internet with affordable packages would play a significant role
in boosting the Global LTE market.

market for LTE consumer devices projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 26%
during 2015 - 2020. Rising adoption of LTE technology in emerging economies,
increasing number of new LTE enabled registered devices, such as cameras and
other wearable devices, mounting Machine-to-Machine connections, Internet of
Things (IoT) and declining global average selling prices of LTE devices is
projected to propel growth in global LTE consumer devices market through 2020.
Samsung and Apple are expected to continue their market domination; however,
their respective market shares are expected to decline over the course of next
five years.
