Clariant And KBR Deliver Catalysts for Ammonia Plants in Indonesia
Indonesia: Clariant,
one of the leading specialty chemical companies, in cooperation with licensing
partner KBR, has announced that the company would be providing total catalyst
solutions to 2 new ammonia projects in Indonesia. KBR's process technologies in
conjugation with a wide range of catalysts offered by Clariant are expected to
aid reduction in production costs and improvement in ammonia plant efficiency. Major
catalysts to be supplied to Indonesian ammonia plants include AmoMax 10 for
ammonia synthesis, ReforMax 330 LDP & ReforMax 210 LDP for reforming,
ShiftMax 120, and ShiftMax 217 & ShiftMax 210 for high-temperature shift
(HTS) & low-temperature shift (LTS) reactions.
TechSci
Research depicts that the start-up of two major ammonia production plants in
Indonesia are expected to positively influence the nitric acid industry of the
country. Availability of ammonia, a major raw material in the production of
nitric acid, is anticipated to augment the nitric acid production in Indonesia,
which would further lead to reduction of dependency on exports in the country.
Additionally, this would further help the country to enhance their industrial
base as well as economic growth.
According
to the recently published report by TechSci Research, “Global
Nitric Acid Market By
Plant Type (Dual and Mono Pressure), By Sales Channel, By Application (Ammonium
Nitrate and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate, etc.), By Region (Europe, Asia-Pacific,
etc.), Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 - 2025”, the
global nitric acid market is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 6% during
2016-2025, on the back of implementation of stringent regulations related to
greenhouse gas pollution control, expanding ammonium nitrate and calcium
ammonium nitrate industries and growing demand for explosives from mining and
construction sectors. Europe is the largest consumer of nitric acid across the
globe. However, rapid industrialization in APAC are projected to drive robust
growth in demand for nitric acid and its derivatives in the region in the
ensuing years.
