Polytechnic (RP) to promote drone awareness through its new training centre
Singapore: Republic Polytechnic (RP) will
be offering several courses at its new drone training centre to assist people
learn to fly Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The new centre is going to be
unveiled during the polytechnic's open house, by this week.
"Companies recognize and
increasingly tap on the potential of drone technology to boost productivity and
efficiency. Future growth of UAV applications may, however, be hampered by a
lack of technical or situational knowledge and awareness of safety and security
issues," RP said.
Further, the new training
centre would offer a variety of courses including five advance and three basic.
The basic courses would help the people to learn capturing aerial shots on
video, whereas, the advance courses would be more industry-specific, which
would cover areas like land planning, search, rescue and recovery systems.
In addition, the basic
courses would offer the participants to learn about safety & regulatory
processes to fly a drone across Singapore, which would include how to fill the risk
assessment form and how to apply for a permit and identify dangers while flying
drones.
As per TechSci Research, the new
training center would further help the drone market to progress at a global
scale by increasing consumer awareness and safety measures related to drone
usage across the globe.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “Global
Commercial Drone Market By Drone Type, By Application, By Region, Competition
Forecast and Opportunities, 2015-2021”, over
the next decade, rapidly evolving drone technology is expected to transform the
conventional way of doing business in various sectors. Evolving regulatory
policy framework, increasing commercial applications of drones across various
end-use sectors, coupled with advancements in drone technologies are projected
to propel growth in global commercial drone market in the ensuing years. Over
the last five years, drones were being mainly used in the defense sector across
various countries. However, various advantages such as time reduction, easy
manoeuvrability and ability to trim down operational costs is increasing usage
of commercial drones in diverse application areas such as precision
agriculture, mapping, photography, surveying, media and entertainment, law
enforcement & public safety, and inspection/monitoring in energy, mining
and infrastructure sectors.
