STMicroelectronics and Valencell Launched Development Kit for Biometric Wearables
Switzerland:
STMicroelectronics, a
global semiconductor manufacturer, and Valencell, a biometric sensor technology
provider announced launch of a new powerful and highly accurate scalable development
Kit for biometric wearables. It integrates STMicroelectronics’s SensorTile turnkey
multi-sensor module with Valencell’s Benchmark(TM) biometric sensor system.
Collaboration of Valencell with
STMicroelectronics expands on previous work that incorporated STM32 MCUs and
sensors from STMicroelectronics into Valencell’s Benchmark sensor system.
TechSci Research depicts that with this collaboration,
the prototyping, evaluation, and development of innovative wearable and IoT
solutions will be simplified by delivering a complete Valencell PerformTek
technology package. Further, with growing technological advancements and usage,
Biometrics market will grow significantly all across the globe.
According to the recent report published
by TechSci Research, “Global
Biometrics Market By Type (Fingerprint Recognition,
Facial Recognition, Hand/Palm Recognition, Iris Scanner, Voice Recognition,
Vein Scanner & Others), By End Use Sector, By Region, Competition Forecast
and Opportunities, 2011 – 2021”,
the global biometrics market is projected to cross US $ 24.8 billion by 2021.
Fingerprint recognition biometric systems are the most preferred type of
biometric systems used across the globe, owing to their ease of use, low cost,
high speed and accurate results. However, in terms of growth, vein scanner
biometrics systems segment is anticipated to outpace fingerprint recognition
biometrics systems over the next five years. In 2015, North America dominated
the global biometrics market, and the region is anticipated to maintain its
dominance over the next five years as well
