Apple Expands Retail Footprint in Saudi Arabia

On 8 December 2024, Apple has announced an ambitious expansion into Saudi Arabia, aiming to establish a strong retail and online presence. The company will launch its first Arabic-language online store in summer 2025, broadening its accessibility in the region. This strtegy underscores Apple's commitment to deepening local connections and making its ecosystem more inclusive for Arabic-speaking users. The online platform will support services and customer interaction in the Arabic language, reinforcing Apple's strategy to cater to local market needs.

The expansion will continue with the launch of flagship Apple Stores in 2026, including a notable location in Diriyah, a site renowned for its historical significance as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is part of Apple's broader vision to elevate the retail experience and showcase the brand’s distinct design and technological prowess in a landmark setting. The Diriyah store promises to be a beacon of innovation and cultural integration, symbolizing the company's dedication to growth in the region.

This initiative comes as a result of Apple's substantial investments in the kingdom, with over 10 billion SAR already directed to projects over the last five years. This financial commitment has led to a notable increase in app store revenue, surging by over 1750% since 2019. The expansion aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to diversify its economy by fostering new sectors and partnerships. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, highlighted the significance of the move as a step toward nurturing local talent and supporting entrepreneurs.

Apple's plans also include extending its educational initiatives, such as the Apple Developer Academy in Riyadh. This program is poised to cultivate tech talent and empower young developers, contributing to the kingdom's technological and entrepreneurial growth. By opening new retail spaces and focusing on local engagement, Apple is set to strengthen its position as a technology leader in Saudi Arabia while aligning with broader regional objectives.
