India: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited awarded contract worth USD37.31
million to Sterling and Wilson for the procurement of substations, transformers
and reactors to be implemented under North East Region Scheme-IV & VII. The
project would cover areas such as Imphal, Silchar, Balipara, Bongaigaon, Misa,
Kopili, Nirjuli, Agartala, Mokokchung and aims to strengthen the power
distribution network in North Eastern parts of India. The contract would
include the installation, testing and commissioning of substations including
power transformers and reactors in North Eastern parts of India. The project is
estimated to be completed by May 2017.
TechSci Research finds out the transmission and Distribution network in North
Eastern parts of India is under developed leading to irregular power supply in
these regions. The implementation of substations,
transformers and reactors in North Eastern region would improve the power
supply scenario thereby resulting in reliable power supply which can be
utilized optimally to support housing and industrial activities. The project of
strengthening the power transmission and Distribution network in North Eastern
Region would give a major thrust to India Power and Distribution Transformer
