Organic Farming Land in US Reaches Record 4.1 Million Acres

States: United States organic land area has witnessed an 11%
increase from the year 2014. Currently 4.1 million acers of land are covered
under organic farming. The state of California leads with 688,000 acres of organic farming land while, the
state of Montana saw a 30% increase with 417,000 acres, a 100,000-acre increase
since 2014. Colorado, North Dakota and New York have also witnessed an increase
in organic agriculture land by about 40,000 since 2014. In June 2016, 14,979
certified organic farms were registered showing a 6.2 percent increase as
compared to 2014. The organic industry is growing across the globe and with
lower commodity grain prices, farmers are looking to add value in order to meet
consumer demands.

throughout the world. Many countries have increased their organic agriculture
