Reliance Jio to Launch 4G Feature Phones with Voice Over LTE
India: Reliance Jio, one of the leading LTE mobile
network provider in India, is set to launch featured phones with 4G capability
in a bid to attract millions of customers to its telecom venture.
The company will introduce LTE devices
to win over rural, semi-urban & tier III customer who generally used phones
to make call only. The company may set the price of the product as low as USD
15 and bundled with unlimited voice and video calling. Jio wants to cover all
the segments in the country and this product would mainly target at first-time
data users.
The 4G telecom is in talks with domestic
handset maker lava international and Chinese original equipment maker to bring
the featured phones in the market. Jio would be subsidising the selling price
of the 4G featured phones as the cost of making the phones is about USD 25 and
product would be sold at USD 15.
TechSci Research depicts that the rising
demand of using Voice over LTE technology will pave way for LTE devices in
India. The launch of featured phones and that too at low cost will fuel the
growth of the product in the Indian market to entice customers from all the
segment who uses LTE for voice & video calling purpose.
According
to TechSci Research report “Global LTE Consumer Devices
Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, global
market for LTE consumer devices projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 26%
during 2015 - 2020. Rising adoption of LTE technology in emerging economies,
increasing number of new LTE enabled registered devices, such as cameras and
other wearable devices, mounting Machine-to-Machine connections, Internet of
Things (IoT) and declining global average selling prices of LTE devices is
projected to propel growth in global LTE consumer devices market through 2020.
Samsung and Apple are expected to continue their market domination; however,
their respective market shares are expected to decline over the course of next
five years.
