Harley-Davidson Launches New Motorcycle Models in India
India: The America’s leading motorcycle
manufacturer, Harley-Davidson, has planned to expand its product portfolio in
India by launching Roadster and Road Glide Special models.
The Roadster model would feature V-Twin
1,200cc Evolution air-cooled engine, similar to that of as on the 1200 Custom model.
However, the engine of new Roadster would produce a maximum torque of 96Nm @ 4,000
rpm. The Harley-Davidson Roadster model is priced at around USD14,570 (ex-showroom,
Delhi).
Whereas, Road Glide Special model would
be installed with the all new Milwaukee Eight 107 Single Cam V-twin engine,
with the displacement of 1,745cc and would produce a maximum torque of 150Nm @
3,250 rpm. The Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special model is priced at almost
USD49,280 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Both the new models launched by Harley-Davidson
would be available by the end of November 2016 across the country.
As per TechSci Research, the decision
made by Harley-Davidson would give Indian consumers, an expanded range of options
to purchase premium motorcycle from. Moreover, the growing inclination of
citizens of the country towards Harley-Davidson motorcycles, is likely to influence
the sales of the company in coming years, consequently, impacting the overall
premium motorcycle industry of India.

to a recent report published by TechSci

& Opportunities, 2011-2021”, premium motorcycle market in India is
projected to exhibit a CAGR of ~30% during 2016-2021, on account of growing
trend of CKD and SKD assembly, launch of new model, coupled with declining
average selling price and rising number of high net worth individual. India
premium motorcycle market was dominated by southern and northern regions in
2015, and they are further expected to continue to dominate the market during
forecast period as well, owing to growing demand for premium motorcycles,
coupled with increasing number of motorcycle clubs and groups in cities like
Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, etc.
