P&G Eyeing a tie-up with Future Group for Modern Retail Concept
India: Procter
& Gamble (P&G), the Indian FMCG major is planning for a partnership
with Future Group for Walmart like concept which could involve joint sales
forecasting, planning, supply chain initiatives and exclusive product releases.
The
top executives of both the companies have apprehended meetings and held
discussions to take their plans to further level. Although, the discussions are
at a very early stage the meetings are expected to be fruitful during the
future. The partnership could be same as the one Walmart has with P&G in
the United states where they share data on consumer behaviour, plan product
launches and also depend on each other for supply chain activities. P&G
Chief Executive David Taylor had visited India and toured a few retail stores
in India and Future group’s president Devendra Chawla visited P&G’s
Cincinnati headquarters.
According
to TechSci Research, this
partnership could bring in new trends in the FMCG industry. The partnership
once inked could give better consumer service given the fact that both the
companies are well established major players in the Indian FMCG industry. These
kind of information sharing and partnerships would lead to better pricing of
products and give companies insights on consumer behavior, which would lead to
a healthy competition among the companies.
