Braskem Commissions New UHMWPE Plant in Texas
United States: Braskem S.A., a leading American
thermoplastic resin producing company, has announced the commissioning of a new
Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) Plant at its La Porte, Texas
site. The company is involved in the sale of advanced UHMWPE under the trade
name UTEC®. The new North American UTEC® UHMWPE plant is
expected to start operations by the end of 2016. This new plant would aid Braskem
to strengthen its presence in United States and European markets for UHMWPE. In
addition to this, with the commissioning of new UHMWPE Plant, Braskem is aiming
to enter growing, high-value application segments and begin supplying the
product to customers in Asia. The new UTEC UHMWPE plant in Texas would allow
Braskem to build stronger client relationships by means of advanced engineered
polymers as well as generate additional high-quality engineering and production
jobs in La Porte.

new Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) Plant in Texas would
complement Braskem’s existing product line in Brazil and establish the company
as a global leader in Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene industry.
