BASF Commences PVP Manufacturing Facility in Shanghai.
Germany
based leading chemical company plans to start a new polyvinylpyrrolidone plant
in China.
Shanghai:
BASF, a
leading global chemical manufacturer, is to set up a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)
manufacturing facility to produce PVP K30 powder, a water soluble polymers with
applicability in several industries majorly in pharmaceutical excipients in
China. The site has a quality control laboratory, warehouse capacity and
production facilities. This project is a part of BASF’s global investment in
PVP value chain for which the company announced to invest USD70 million in
2015. The plant operates in compliance with international standards and is a
strategic step by the company to reach out to its customers and strengthen its
position in the Asia-Pacific regional market.
TechSci Research depicts that
the new facility of the water soluble polymer would strengthen the position of
BASF in the global PVP market.
Moreover, growing demand for multiple
functionalities and applicability of PVP for different end user industries
would aid to the growth of water soluble polymers market in the country and
globally.
According to the recently published report by TechSci Research, “US
Water Soluble Polymers Market By Type (Polyacrylamide, Guar Gum, Polyvinyl Alcohol
etc.), By End Use Industry (Water Treatment, Food Processing, Enhanced Oil
Recovery etc.), By Region, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2011-2025”, water soluble polymers market in the United States is valued at
around USD5.5 billion and is expected to witness steady growth through 2025 on
account of growing use of shale gas reserves in the region with increased use
of hydraulic fracturing and drilling techniques, rising awareness about
environmental concerns and the use of coagulants and flocculants for water
treatment along with rising demand from food & beverage processing
industries in the United States. Moreover, use of natural food additives,
increasing use of cosmetics and personal care products coupled with growing
pharmaceuticals sector and rising awareness about disposable waste management
with developing trends of film packaging and green packaging among individuals
are the factors leading to increased use of different types of water soluble
polymers and are set to drive the water soluble polymers market in the United
States through 2025.
