Intel partnered Lenovo to provide biometric protection for laptops and online payment services
United
States: A California
based company Intel, partnered with Lenovo to offer biometric protection for
its upcoming Lenovo laptops and other online payment system. The alliance would
also include Synaptic and PayPal itself.
The new biometric system for much
awaited Lenovo laptops would be a collaboration of Intel, Lenovo, Synaptics and
PayPal which would combine intel’s hardware security and Synaptics expertise on
biometric security for Lenovo laptops.
Biometric is widely used on mobile
devices and now it will be incorporated in the laptops and PCs across the
globe, in order to lessen the burden for remembering the password to the
consumers. This partnership would provide secure way of managing payment transactions
via PayPal and other online payment services done by the end users.
TechSci Research depicts that the
adaptation of biometric for PC’s & laptop has been slower in the recent
years but will gain momentum as soon as it provides security and protection to
information from theft. The rising demand for Biometrics technology is also gaining
traction in mobile devices and online payment system.
According to the recent report published
by TechSci Research, “Global
Biometrics Market By Type (Fingerprint Recognition,
Facial Recognition, Hand/Palm Recognition, Iris Scanner, Voice Recognition,
Vein Scanner & Others), By End Use Sector, By Region, Competition Forecast
and Opportunities, 2011 – 2021”
the global biometrics market is projected to cross US $ 24.8 billion by 2021.
Fingerprint recognition biometric systems are the most preferred type of
biometric systems used across the globe, owing to their ease of use, low cost,
high speed and accurate results. However, in terms of growth, vein scanner
biometrics systems segment is anticipated to outpace fingerprint recognition
biometrics systems over the next five years.
