Marriott International completes Starwood acquisition
Global: Marriot International has acquired Starwood
Hotels and Resorts, thereby becoming the world's largest hotel company to bring
30 hotel brands together. Thereby, making an important international footprint
and placing Marriott in a leading position in luxury select-service and resort
segment. The company will now operate or franchise a total of 5,700 properties
and 1.1 million rooms. The acquisition will increase the presence of Marriott's
existence in Asia and in the Middle East. With the addition of Starwood's
strong brands, properties at prominent countries coupled with the support of
the talented staff, the company hopes to provide the best experiences to the
customers. The has also created a great opportunity for the company and its associates
to build a strong economic presence across all the regions. As on 30th
September 2016, Marriott will match member status across Marriott rewards –
including The Ritz-Carlton Rewards - and Starwood Preferred Guest and enable
all the members to transfer travel points when their accounts will be linked.
According
to TechSci Research, Marriott is having
the world's best portfolio of hotel brands, and the biggest loyalty programs
which enables them to provide an unmatched guest experience to the customers. The
new company is likely to achieve USD250 million in annual cost synergies. On
the hand, other synergies will form of leveraging their operations by sharing
best practices expecting improved sales expertise and account coverage to
provide enhanced efficiency thereby increasing the revenue opportunities.
