Indra partnered with Mobeal to develop smart traffic management projects
Algeria: Indra one of world’s leading companies
in developing smart technology for traffic and urban public transportation
management signed an agreement to become a part of Mobeal, a public -private
joint venture, with the objective of modernizing the urban lighting system in the
country
Through this agreement, public-private
venture will install, exploit and maintain traffic control system and remote
management of lighting. In the first phase Algeria would be traversed for
automation of traffic management which would be phased out in other large cities
in subsequent manner.
TechSci depicts that smart urban traffic
management is need of an hour with the growing traffic population. It would
contribute to smart road lighting, minimizing carbon emissions, minimizing road
accident, cutting traffic jams as well as their costs and promote the use of
public transport and integrated urban transport services.
According to the recent report published
by TechSci Research, “Global
Intelligent Transportation Systems Market By System (ATMS, ATPS, ATIS, etc.), By Application
(Traffic Management, Electronic Toll Management, Parking Management, Advance
Traveller Information, etc.) and Competition Forecast and Opportunities,
2010-2020”, the global ITS market is poised to grow at CAGR of over 10% during
2015 - 2020. With the market being too fragmented, a large number of players
are engaged in offering ITS solutions across the globe. Thales, Xerox, and
Cubic are few of the leading players operating in the market. In 2014, Americas
accounted for the largest share in the global ITS market, followed by Europe,
Asia-Pacific and Middle East & Africa. However, Asia-Pacific offers huge
future growth opportunities for ITS deployments, and consequently, is expected
to outperform the broader market. Rising concerns associated with vehicular
emissions are also influencing ITS strategic plan of various major economies,
and this is expected to have a positive impact on global ITS market during the
forecast period.
