BASF Unveils Its First Construction Chemicals Plant in Sri Lanka

Lanka: BASF, a Germany based manufacturer of specialty
chemicals, has recently opened its first construction chemicals production
facility in the vicinity of Lindel Estate at Sapugaskande, Sri Lanka. The new
facility would produce concrete admixtures such as MasterGlenium,
MasterPolyheed, MasterRheobuild and MasterPozzolith. Establishment of this
construction chemicals plant would help BASF to cater the growing demand for
construction chemicals in the country. According to Himanshu Kapadia, BASF
Asia-Pacific construction chemicals Vice President, the new admixture facility will meet demand for admixtures for all
cement and aggregate types for construction projects located in Colombo and
remote areas as well and contribute significantly to country’s GDP.
TechSci Research depicts that establishment of new construction
chemicals production plant in Sri Lanka would address the burgeoning demand for high-performance admixtures
in rapidly growing Asia-Pacific and Middle East and Africa construction
chemicals markets.
According to the recent report published by TechSci Research “GCC

Opportunities, 2011 – 2021”, construction chemicals market in the GCC
region is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 7% during 2016 to 2021. Demand
for construction chemicals, which are used in construction materials to speed
up construction activities or improve durability of existing structures, is
expected to grow because of rising investments in construction of residential
complexes as well as commercial sector. Additionally, rising expenditure on
infrastructure projects by the government is further aiding the region’s
construction chemicals market. Some of the major companies operating in the GCC

Gulf and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation.
