March 2017
Japan: Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc., a
Tokyo based company, announced that it would resume the operation of a production
line of meta-xylene (MX) in March 2017, which had been shut down since November
2013 by the company. The shutdown of the equipment had adversely affected the supply
and demand balance for meta-xylene. The meta-xylene production equipment
comprises of two production lines with a total annual capacity of 220,000 ton,
of which the resumed meta-xylene production line has an annual capacity of
70,000 tons.
TechSci
Research depicts that the reactivation
of the meta-xylene plant of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company in Japan would
relax the tightened supply and demand balance for MX across the globe.
Moreover, it would augment the manufacturing capacity of the existing MX
production line with an annual
capacity of 150,000 tons to 220,000 ton by March, 2017. Further, robust demand
for MX in Purified isophthalic acid (PIA) and leather industries is expected to
steer the growth of MX market across the globe.
According to the recently published
report by TechSci Research, “India
Leather Chemicals Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s leather chemicals market
is expected to cross USD700 million by 2020. The leather chemicals market in
the country is anticipated to grow on account of high demand for basic
chemicals in beamhouse operations and increasing adoption of specialty
chemicals in leather finishing. Moreover, increasing focus on complying with
government norms is one of the major factors boosting the demand for leather
chemicals.
