BASF and Toda Kogyo Plan for Joint Venture in Cathode Active Material

Toda Kogyo Corporation and BASF have planned to collaborate in North America Cathode Active Material for the manufacture of chemicals and iron oxides

Germany: BASF, a Germany based leading producer of chemical in the world, has announced their plans for joint venture with Toda Kogyo Corp. in cathode active material in North America. Toda Kogyo Corp. is a japan based company involved in manufacturing of electronic materials and chemicals such as iron oxides. The collaboration would majorly be focused on the different types of cathode active materials and its precursor for lithium-ion batteries industry in North America. Lithium-ion-batteries are widely used in stationary storage, automotive and electronics industry. BASF and TODA KOGYA companies previously had a joint venture in BASF TODA Battery Material LLC. in Japan and now planning to collaborate their respective cathode active material business in North America in order to increase their market and services in the region.

TechSci Research depicts that the collaboration of BASF and Toda Kogyo would help to enhance their product portfolio as well as meet varying needs of their existing customers in North America. Moreover, strong growth of lithium ion batteries in automotive sector will further boost the market for specialty carbon black, which is used as raw material in the lithium ion batteries industry.
