Celanese Discontinues Production of Monomethylamine at Cangrejera
Mexico: Celanese, the manufacturer of chemical solutions and
specialty materials, has planned to stop the production and distribution
of MMA at its production unit in Cangrejara. The company would go on with the production of
dimethylamine (DMA) and trimethylamine (TMA) and would primarily focus on the production
of amines and other acetyl products in the same facility. In coming years, this
production unit would only cater to the dimethylamine (DMA) and trimethylamine
(TMA) production. In order to support the market growth of the company’s amines
business globally, the production equipment have been completely converted to
produce higher volumes of dimethylamine (DMA) and trimethylamine (TMA)
TechSci Research depicts that
the closure of MMA production operations at Cangrejera would affect the market
synthetic rubber in the country. However, the company would recuperate its
revenues by increased production of DMA and TMA.
According to the recent report
published by TechSci Research “China Synthetic Rubber Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the synthetic rubber market in China is projected to cross USD12
billion by 2020. This growth is
anticipated on the back of continuously rising production output of the
domestic tyre industry along with increasing demand for synthetic rubber from
various other industries, such as polymer modification, footwear, asphalt
modification and adhesives. Major global tyre manufacturers have set up their
production facilities in China, in order to capitalize on the growing synthetic
rubber demand in the country. Sinopec Corporation and PetroChina are the
largest players operating in the synthetic rubber market of the country. Few of
the other major global players having business presence in China include TSRC
Corporation, LCY Chemical Corp. and Lanxess.
