National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to commission nearly 610 MW hydro projects by FY17
India: National Hydroelectric Power Corporation
(NHPC) has announced the commissioning of 610 MW of hydro projects by FY17. The
company aims to commission two units of 160 MW Teesta Low Dam Project stage-4 in
West Bengal and 330 MW Kishanganga Projects. The company have also announced the
set up of one unit of 200 MW of Parbati-II Hydro Project in Himachal Pradesh
which is slated to be completed by November 2018.
Techsci
Research depicts that the development of new hydro projects would give a major
boost to the power and distribution transformers market in the country. The
project will also help in meeting the water shortages in the local regions.
These projects would lead to the expansion of Transmission and Distribution (T&D)
infrastructure that is required to supply power from the hydro projects to the
demand centres. This would in turn, boost the demand for Power and Distribution
Transformers thereby influencing the overall growth of power and distribution
transformers market in India in the coming years.
According
to a recently released report of TechSci
Research, “India
Power & Distribution Transformers Market Forecast
& Opportunities, 2020”, the
power and distribution transformers market in India is projected to grow at a
CAGR of over 10% by 2020. Power transformers contributes to a major portion in
overall market revenues due to their higher price points. Notable technological
upgrades are underway to reinforce the country’s transmission and distribution
network, which would continue to drive the demand for power and distribution
transformers in India.
