Praxair Acquires Industrial and Medical Gas Businesses

United States: Praxair Inc., a U.S.-based industrial gases manufacturer, has announced the acquisition of five industrial and medical gas businesses in the U.S., Italy and Panama. The company acquired three distributors of industrial and specialty packaged gases in the U.S., namely The Welding Center in Illinois, Welder Services in Indiana, and A&B Electric Motors and Supplies in Arizona. Additionally, the company acquired Geneva Industrial Gases, a company engaged in the manufacturing of gases for industrial and medical purposes and for the metal fabrication segment. Furthermore, Rivoira, Praxair’s subsidiary in Italy has acquired Ossigas S.r.l., a company involved in the production, sale and distribution of medical gases across the Southern and Northeastern regions of Italy. The five businesses had a cumulative annual sale of about USD40 million in 2015.

TechSci Research depicts that the acquisition of five industrial and medical gas businesses by Praxair, Inc. would aid the growth of its geographic density and strengthen the company’s integrated business model. The acquisition would increase the company’s ability to efficiently supply the products to its customers. Moreover, it would broaden the company’s market to industries including healthcare.
